چکیده

A minimal renormalizable SUSY SO(10) model with B-L symmetry broken by 126 Higgs field has recently been shown to predict all neutrino mixings and the ratio ∆m⊙/∆m 2 A in agreement with observations. Unlike models where B-L is broken by 16 Higgs, this model guarantees automatic R-parity conservation and hence a stable dark matter without any additional symmetry assumptions. In this paper, we discuss the predictions of the model for proton decay. We scan over the parameter space of the model allowed by neutrino data to obtain the maximum values for the partial lifetimes for proton decay to various modes. We find that the partial lifetime for the mode τ(p → π+ν̄) has an upper bound of 2.2×1032 yrs for average squark mass of 500 GeV and wino mass of 200 GeV, when we require the parameters to satisfy the present τ(p → K+ν̄) and τ(p → K0 + μ+) lower limits. All other decay modes have lifetimes longer than the present lower limits.

Minimal So(10) Grand Unification: Predictions for Proton Decay and Neutrino Masses and Mixings

Prospects for SO(10) as a minimal grand unification group have recently been heightened by several considerations such as the MSW resolution of the solar neutrino puzzle, baryogenesis, possibility for understanding fermion masses etc. I review the present status of the minimal SO(10) models with special emphasis on the predictions for proton lifetime and predictions for neutrino masses for the ...

Automatically R-conserving supersymmetric SO(10) models and mixed light Higgs doublets.

In automatic R-parity conserving supersymmetric (SUSY) SO(10) models, the simplest way to accomodate realistic fermion masses is to demand that the light Higgs doublets are linear combinations of the {10} and {126} grand unified Higgs representations. We study the realization of this mixed light Higgs property ( MLHP ) consistent with doublet-triplet splitting in a minimal R-conserving SUSY SO(...

The Problem of Neutrino Masses in Extensions of the Standard Model

We review the problem of neutrino masses and mixings in the context of Grand Unified Theories. After a brief summary of the present experimental status of neutrino physics, we describe how the see-saw mechanism can automatically account for the large atmospheric mixing angle. We provide two specific examples where this possibility is realized by means of a flavour symmetry. We then review in so...

DFPD 00/TH/34 From Minimal to Realistic Supersymmetric SU(5) Grand Unification

We construct and discuss a ”realistic” example of SUSY SU(5) GUT model, with an additional U(1) flavour symmetry, that is not plagued by the need of large fine tunings, like those associated with doublet-triplet splitting in the minimal model, and that leads to an acceptable phenomenology. This includes coupling unification with a value of αs(mZ) in much better agreement with the data than in t...

Minimal SUSY SO(10), b-τ Unification and Large Neutrino Mixings

We show that the assumption of type II seesaw mechanism for small neutrino masses coupled with b− τ mass unification in a minimal SUSY SO(10) model leads not only to a natural understanding of large atmospheric mixing angle (θ23) among neutrinos, as recently pointed out, but also to large solar angle (θ12) and a small θ13 ≡ Ue3 as required to fit observations. This is therefore a minimal, compl...
